Buenos Aires, September 6th. Herbicide-resistant weeds are one of the largest troubles for farmers in Argentina because they depress the yields of the crops and raise the costs. Last week, a technical congress about this kind of weeds was run at Cordoba province, with the presence of technicians from the Agricultural Research National Institute, agronomy colleges, and chemical companies.

In this context, BASF exhibited results of its herbicide Zidua, just a year after its launching, and its digital farming platform Xarvio. Zidua is an herbicide to use in the pre-planting in soybean, corn, and peanut. Crop Manager Aimar Pena, from BASF, told to the audience (more than 1,000 farmers and agronomists) that Zidua proved its efficiency bringing higher yields to farmers and that is the reason of its large acceptance. “Zidua is an innovator product, with a broad control range, and providing 15 days more of persistence in the soil. Zidua also has the faster action in its segment, bringing to farmers large efficiency in post-emergence control”, Pena added.

On its turn, Hernán Ghiglione, Senior Manager of R+D, commented about Xarvio, and its two branches, Scouting to detect and identify pests and diseases in crops and Field Manager to the farm management. “BASF goes along with farmers, searching for new solutions to their problems, in each stage of the crops campaign”, a press release from the company sais after the event.

“We want to target to the new farmers, the youngs which are the future of farming, and going along with them in the new troubles that time is making more complex; our commitment is the continuous research and the following of the new technologies to create the better tools”, Luis Lanfranconi, the congress coordinator, told to the audience.
