Buenos Aires, June 8th. By the Order 33/2018, the Ministry of AgIndustry authorized the production and commercialization of glyphosate-tolerant and low lignin contain alfalfa in Argentina. The official request was done by Agrobiotechnology Rosario Institute (INDEAR) which will commercialize the seed through its partner Bioceres Semillas.
It is the first GMO alfalfa approved to grow in the country and its expected it will available to farmers during 2019 growing season.
Bioceres celebrated the deregulation of the HarvXtra (commercial trademark) alfalfa by the local authority, as this technology will provide ranchers the possibility to produce higher-quality forage or delay harvest to maximize yield potential.
